Cynthia Adams Obituary

Durango resident Cynthia D. Adams died of a heart attack Friday, April 12, 2013, at Mercy Regional Medical Center. She was 53.

Ms. Adams was born to Vanderbilt and Mary Lou Adams on Sept. 8, 1959, in Orlando, Fla. She grew up in Florida and moved to Colorado in the 1970s. She moved to Durango in 1979.

Ms. Adams worked at Adams Overhead Door.

"She loved her two girls and grandson," her family said. "She enjoyed the outdoors and went fishing every chance she got. Cynthia was a beloved member of Ignacio Community Church for nine years. She was an inspiration to all with her faith, commitment and service to the church and community."

Ms. Adams is survived by her daughters Sharina Ramsey-Adams and Jazzi Adams-Totten, both of Durango; mother, Mary Lou Adams, of Florida; brothers Vanderbilt Adams Jr. and Tony Adams, both of Florida; Ernest Adams and Joseph Adams, both of New York; sisters Clara Adams, Evon Wheeler and Eris Northern, all of Florida, and Ruthie Pumphrey of Georgia; and one grandson.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at Hood Mortuary Chapel, 1261 East Third Ave. A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Ignacio East Cemetery. A memorial service will be held afterward at 3 p.m. at Ignacio Community Church, 405 Browning in Ignacio. A meal will be served afterward for friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund to help the family with expenses to Ignacio Community Church, P.O. Box 317, Ignacio, CO 81137. For more information, call 563-4022.
