Clara Aspromonte-Piccoli Obituary

Longtime local resident Clara Aspromonte-Piccoli died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, in Durango. She was 63.

The daughter of Charles and Grace Aspromonte, Mrs. Aspromonte-Piccoli grew up in Durango and graduated from Durango High School. She attended Fort Lewis College and obtained a degree in teaching.

On July 17, 1982, Mrs. Aspromonte-Piccoli married Robert L. Piccoli in Denver. The family moved to Bayfield in December 1994.

During her years in Bayfield, Mrs. Aspromonte-Piccoli worked for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe. She retired about a year ago.

She enjoyed golfing, playing Sudoku, reading, hunting mushrooms, boating and spending time with her friends, and she loved being a grandmother, her family said.

Mrs. Aspromonte-Piccoli is survived by her children Michelle Gee of Phoenix, Jason Lawrence Piccoli of Riverton, Wyo., Carrie Lynn Paschall and Nichole Watters of Fort Worth, Texas, and Scott Eric Piccoli of Seabrook, Texas; brothers Dean Aspromonte of Durango and Johnny Aspromonte of Aztec; sister, Angela "Angie" Aspromonte, of Santa Maria, Calif.; and several grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Piccoli; daughter April Piccoli; and brother Dominic Aspromonte.

A rosary will be recited at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, and a Mass of Christian Burial, also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will follow at 10 a.m.. Father Joseph Gallegos C.R. of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate.

After the Mass, a burial of cremated remains will occur at Greenmount Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
