Cheri Periman-Donan Obituary

Cheri Heather Periman-Donan

It is with tear-filled eyes and a broken heart that I must write of my wife's passing. For 32 years, she has been my friend, soulmate, and a step-mother to my children. Born in Columbus, OH to Guy & Betty Gilbert. Her and her younger sister Carmen moved around to various places with their parents before settling in Gem Village, CO.
Cheri attended college and received a Master's degree in Psychology. She worked in the computer center at FLC and liked it so much that she stayed there for 27 years. During her time at FLC she was married to Ken Periman until his passing in 1991.
Cheri and I met and married a year later. She took an early retirement in 1995 due to having various medical problems. After retirement she worked various jobs to stay busy. However, her health issues kept mounting and eventually she became pretty much homebound. We did manage to visit Scotland for two weeks, highlighted by a trip to Iona Abbey. She had the time of her life, with beautiful scenery and numerous castles.
Her health continued to spiral downhill but she was still able to collect antiques and participated in dog rescue. Her body went through so much, but she was a fighter till the end.
She was preceded in death by her parents Guy & Betty Gilbert, and sister Carmen.
She is survived by her husband Roy L. Donan and numerous stepchildren and grandchildren.
Cremation has occurred and there will be no services at her request.
She passed with me holding her hand, now she's with the Lord, and no more pain and suffering.
I would like to submit this from a song.
"If she seems cold & bitter, then I beg of you, stop & consider all she's been through.
Don't be quick to condemn her for things she might say.
Just remember, life turned her that way."
I love her, she will always be in my heart.
Roy

Cheri was a friend. We both worked at Fort Lewis College. I always enjoyed my interactions with her. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I regret I did not know she was ill. I would have come to visit with her.
