Charlotte Langford Obituary

Redmesa resident Charlotte L. Langford died of breast cancer Sunday, July 7, 2013, at her home. She was 49.

Mrs. Langford was born to Kent and Carolyn Larsen on Jan. 4, 1964, in Pocatello, Idaho.

After graduating from Parkdale High School in Riverdale, Md., in 1981, she attended Weber State College, where she fell in love with her future husband, Richard Bret Langford. The couple married Dec. 28, 1984, in the Washington, D.C. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple.

They settled in Ogden, Utah, where Mr. Langford began his construction business. In 1986, they moved to Scottsdale, Ariz. Seeking to be closer to Mrs. Langford's family, they moved to Woodbine, Md. in 1988.

In 1992, they settled in the Durango area.

"A devoted wife and mother, Charlotte managed a thriving household," her family said. "As Bret's partner in all things, she provided support and inspiration to him in his general contracting business."

An active member of the Redmesa Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mrs. Langford could often be found providing service to others. In her spare time, she shared her singing talent at public and religious events, both as a soloist and with her four sisters.

Mrs. Langford was preceded in death by her daughter Sara Lee Langford, who died at birth in 2004.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Bret Langford, of Redmesa; children Andrew Kent Langford, Joshua Kincaid Langford, Caitlin Rose Langford, Caleb Young Langford, McKenna Lynn Langford, Kiersten Blair Langford, Emily Jayne Langford and Lindsey Anne Langford, all of Redmesa, Spencer Paul Langford of Durango, Christopher Bret Langford of Provo, Utah, and Jessica Marie Shirley of Orlando, Fla.; father, Kent Larsen, of Gilbert, Ariz.; siblings Christian Larsen and Jennifer Hansen, both of Phoenix, Stephanie White of Mesa, Ariz., Alicia Morgan of Chandler, Ariz., Melissa Bybee of Richmond, Va., Kent Larsen II of New York City and Blair Larsen of Hermiston, Ore.; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the Red Mesa LDS Chapel, 6848 Colorado Highway 140 in Redmesa. An informal reception will begin at 5 p.m. before the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Langford Family Memorial Fund at Bank of the San Juans, 144 E. 8th St., Durango, CO 81301.
