Charles Rea Obituary

Charles Dale Rea, Jr., 77, lost his fight with Parkinson's Disease and went to be with the Lord on Oct. 15, 2021. He was born in Shreveport, La. on April 27, 1944. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Catherine Rea and Charles Dale Rea, Sr.; sons, Joseph Dale Rea and Ronald Dale Rea. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Juli; daughter, Lisa Rea; five grandsons; one granddaughter; five great-grandsons; sister, Cleone (Lyle) Slade; niece, Colleen; nephew, Kevin; and niece, Michelle. He loved his dogs and had many throughout his life. Dale retired as Fremont County Sheriff, moving up the ranks being elected twice. He loved to fish, ride motorcycles and spend time at the family cabin he and his dad built. Dale was a teacher and coach. He graduated from Durango High School and played football and wrestled. He also graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango, played college football and worked for the forest service, and was a smokejumper. Dale built 7-11's in the early '80s and ran the Texas Creek Trading Post with his wife Juli. They were successful in getting a post office at Texas Creek in 1983. He loved his family and will be deeply missed and cherished by his family and friends. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Services will be held at a later date.
