Cameron Hardy Obituary

Former Durango resident Cameron Scott Hardy died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, after a four-year battle with leukemia in Carson City, Nev. He was 22.

Known as "Cam," he was born to Scott and Michele Hardy on Sept. 24, 1988, in Reno, Nev. He grew up in Durango, where he attended Riverview Elementary School until his parents divorced. After the divorce, Mr. Hardy moved back to Nevada with his mother and two sisters.

"Cam knew how to laugh and how to live life to the fullest," his family wrote. "He loved his visits to Durango, spending time hiking the high country with his father, tubing the river and spending time with family. His bright smile and charming wit made him many lifelong friends during his 22 years of life, both in Durango and Carson City."

Mr. Hardy is survived by his father and stepmother, Scott and Marianne Hardy; mother, Michele Lynn; sisters Chelsea Hardy and Cailey Hardy; half-brothers Tristen Lynn and Trenton Lynn; stepsister Morgan Gurule; grandparents Jan Hardy and Donald Davis, Bill and Linda Hardy and former La Plata County Clerk Linda Daley.

A private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the University of California Davis Medical Center, Health Sciences Advancement-Leukemia Research, 4900 Broadway, Suite 1150, Sacramento, CA 95820-1532.
