Brian Enos Obituary

Bayfield resident Brian Paul Enos died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at his home. He was one week shy of his 61st birthday. The cause of death is undetermined at this time.

Mr. Enos was born to Donald and Jean (McLaughlin) Enos on Oct. 17, 1952, in Taunton, Mass. He studied at area schools, graduating in 1971 from Taunton High School, where he played varsity football.

Mr. Enos studied culinary arts and began his career as a chef, working at The Red Cabin Restaurant, a popular, local restaurant owned and operated by his parents. After moving to Colorado about 20 years ago, he continued his career working at Virginia's Steakhouse in Bayfield. He then operated his own restaurant at Vallecito, where he developed a proprietary brand of salsa, which he marketed under the trademark Gorilla Salsa.

"Living in Colorado nurtured Brian's love of the outdoors, and he liked nothing better than trekking the Rocky Mountains on horseback," his family said. "He combined his culinary skills with his love of the outdoors in helping to operate private horseback tours through the mountains, where he would cook gourmet meals under the stars after a long day in the saddle."

Mr. Enos was forced to retire early after becoming disabled, but he continued to be active in the community. He joined Pine Valley Foursquare Church, becoming known for cooking and serving meals at church functions and at the Pine Ridge Senior Center.

"His love of life, outgoing personality and boyish charm made him a special favorite with the older members of the community," his family said.

Mr. Enos is survived by his daughters, Melissa Enos Sanjurjo of Taunton and Jordan Enos of Skowhegan, Maine; son, Joshua Enos of Maine; sisters, Carol Karcz of Bradenton, Fla., and Sheila K. O'Brien of Taunton; six grandchildren; one nephew and two nieces; two aunts and an uncle; and numerous cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Dighton Community Church, 2025 Elm St., in Dighton, Mass. Burial will be private.
