Bob Ross Obituary
Bob counted himself as one of the lucky ones to have been part owner of the Bessie G Mine. There wasn't a Gem, Mineral, Rock, or Fossil he couldn't identify. "Learning the earth one rock at a time" was his life quote.
Bob was not selfish with his knowledge; he was always willing to share with anyone willing to listen to what the earth had to give. He spent his final days under the care of his dear friend Pascale Bauman.
Bob is survived by his 3 children, Amy, Shane, and Chelsea, and 4 grandchildren, and his siblings Antone Ross, Pam Nix, and Candy Wiedmeier, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
"Colorado Bob" will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know him, but his legacy will live on through his family, friends, and all who had an opportunity to spend time with him.
A celebration of life will be this summer 2024 in the La Plata mountains.

As a former Bessie G miner I met Bob a few years back on the LaPlata Canyon Road. He was selling his rock specimens and I purchased a few. We had a great conversation but he explained how he couldn't get access to the mine anymore since a landslide covered the entrance. I was hoping to see him again on the LaPlata Canyon Road up to the mine and discovered just now he had passed on. Blessings to Bob and to all his family. I am hoping to share some stories about the Bessie G this Friday at 7:00 PM at the Diamond Belle in Durango.
