Bill Hubbs Obituary

Bill M Hubbs passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024, in Lewiston, Idaho, at the age of 78. Bill was born on April 24, 1945, in Durango, Colorado to Ted and Hazel Hubbs. He was raised on a ranch near Durango, Colorado, where his deep love of horses began.

He had a passion for horses, and began raising and training colts at a young age. He loved everything to do with rodeo. He rode bulls, bareback and saddle broncs in his younger days.

Bill graduated from Durango High School in 1963.

Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965, where he spent his time in the 82nd Airborne jumping out of planes.

After discharge, Bill moved to southern Idaho and began his career as a heavy equipment operator with the Operating Engineers. He traveled around, and worked on many projects in the Pacific Northwest, primarily operating cranes.

Was married to Cleo Loesch 1970-1990, three children were born, Justin, Matt and Wendy.

Bill met his wife Debbie in 1996, and you rarely saw one without the other.

He retired in 2006, after working his last job with Hanford in Richland, Washington as a tower crane operator. He spent as much time as possible team roping, which I would have to say was his favorite thing in the world to do. Bill loved life, and was able to do all things he loved, almost right up until the end.

Bill was truly a man of few words, but when he said something, it had meaning. Two words that described Bill would have to be tough and fearless, but he was also very kind and had a huge love for his family, horses and dogs. He will be missed more than words can describe.

He is survived by Debbie Hubbs, his loving wife of 26 years: brother Gary (Kay) Hubbs; sister, Barbara Hubbs; Children and Grandchildren, Justin (Allicia) Hubbs, Adam, Megan, Joseph; Matt (Shandrea) Hubbs, Portia, Audri, Gloria; Wendy (Marcos) Ramos, Lucas, Isabella and stepson Jared (Erin) Broyles; Nieces and Nephews and brothers-n-laws.

Bill is proceeded in death by his parents and nephew Gary Hubbs Jr.

He was laid to rest Monday, March 18, 2024 at Vineland Cemetery in Clarkston, WA.
