Bill Barnes, 87 of Farmington passed away on December 7, 2021 one year and two days after his wife passed. He was born 4/28/1934 in Durango, CO to Calvin and Thelma Barnes.
Bill grew up in Farmington, NM then moved back to Durango where he met and married Anita Jones on Sept 18, 1957. He served in the Army for 2 years and returned to Durango where they stayed until he retired from the Colorado Department of Transportation as a carpenter. They moved back to Farmington to spend the rest of their years in retirement.
Bill was an excellent carpenter and built 2 of their homes. They loved square dancing for years and touring on their motorcycle, including 2 trips to Canada. Bill was a quiet man, but one of the nicest men you could know.
He is preceded in death by his wife, a son Gary, daughter Danette and his parents. He is survived by his son Russell (Sara) Barnes, daughter Dawn (Paul) Richardson, Son-in-law Ken Jenkins, grandchildren, Mark, Kevin and Jennifer Jenkins, great-grandchildren Aiden and Wyatt Jenkins, brother Larry (Lorelei) Barnes, brother in law Dean Brown and numerous nieces and nephews.
A joint memorial service for Bill and Anita Barnes will be held January 8, 2022 at the Riverstone Church, 803 N Monterey Ave, Farmington NM at 11:00 a.m. with a lunch to follow.
