Betty Willis Obituary

Durango resident, Betty Willis, 99, died peacefully at home on November 16, 2023 with her family by her side. She now joins her husband, James, in a better place.

After Betty graduated from high school and working for several years, she married the love of her life, James Willis. They were married in June 1947 and honeymooned in Long Beach, California and decided to remain there and raise a family. Betty was a wonderful cook, an accomplished seamstress, and loved entertaining. As a family, they took many vacations, camping and traveling all over the United States. In 1970, they purchased a lot in the "Lake of the Pines" in Durango, Colorado and decided to build a summer home, which they enjoyed for over 40 years. Once the kids were raised, Betty and James continued their love of travel in their 5th wheel trailer, exploring as far north as Alaska and as far south as Mexico.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, James Willis.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Bradway of Prescott, Arizona; sons Jeffrey of Durango, David of Durango; granddaughters, Kimberly of Huntington Beach, California, Theresa of Haslet, Texas; and four great-grandchildren.

In loving memory of a very beautiful lady. We only knew each other a short time, but she grew very special to me.
God Bless and comfort her family, whom she loved dearly.
