Four years have passed and I miss knowing the wonderful things your girls and their families are doing. They were all so special to you. NL

SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT BETTY. SHE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY ALL. WE MET WHEN SHE OFFERED HER HELP TO ME WHEN I STARTED WORKING AT EDWARD JONES AND WE BECAME GOOD FRIENDS. ROOMED TOGETHER AT A FEW MEETINGS AND I CONFIDED IN HER ON MANY OCCASION. SHE WAS A GOOD LISTENER AND WAS SO HELPFUL TO ME. WE HADN'T TALKED MUCH SINCE SHE RETIRED, BUT KEPT IN CONTACT AND ALWAYS HAD A GOOD VISIT. SHE WAS A GREAT FRIEND TO ME. I WILL MISS HER ALOT, THINKING OF HER FAMILY AT THIS TIME.

I absolutely adored Betty. She always had a smile on her face and she stood her ground when she needed to. I will miss her.

Deeply sorry to read about Betty's passing. I met her through Rhonda and Keith. She was always so gracious to me at First Presbyterian and invited me to Thanksgiving dinners. Betty was a shining light with a beautiful, kind soul. I first met her in the early 2000's and saw her warm smile daily while we both worked downtown. What a truly wonderful woman. My deepest condolences to her family and what must be a plethora of friends.

I will miss Betty. She was always so sweet and kind. And always well dressed! She showed me that getting older didn't mean you had to get dowdy or dull. Betty and I have been friends since the early 70's when she took a shorthand class that I was teaching in Continuation at Ft. Lewis College. We had many good times together and a few fun trips. We were also in the same real estate class and took the test together in Denver. I will miss her immensely. Norma Engman

Betty was a good friend and a wonderful lady. Kay and I admired her very much. I had the pleasure of Co-chairing the Bush/Quale La Plata County campaign; Betty was superb in all her activity and support. Our deepest sympathy to all the family. I will miss her.

Betty was a special person and I always enjoyed our interactions at events, at the grocery store or just passing on the street. She always had a nice thing to say to everyone and she was an important part of the Durango community. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mother.

Betty was a lovely woman. Her professional and welcoming manner was always to be counted on. She passed on those same wonderful qualities to her beautiful daughters and handsome grandsons.

Betty, my cousin. You will always be 12 days older than me and the sharer of life. You called me VEE and you were my BOO. Two Burgen girls who were separated by events of World War Two. Our fathers were identical twins who married cousins, so we enjoyed knowing we had ties which few could claim. The years in Portland and always knowing what all the cousins were doing has been a comfort during these final days. I am so happy to know you were surrounded by you family. You truly lived to be loved!
