Shirley Tjernagel, 72, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Granger Nursing and Rehab. At her request, she has been cremated and no services are planned but keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
She was born on August 25, 1936 and was proud to have graduated from Beech High School. She later attended the Iowa School of Beauty and then operated her own business in Van Meter until her retirement last year.
She is survived by her son, Michael of Van Meter; daughter, Shawnee of Fort Worth, TX; granddaughter, Nicole of Austin, TX; sister, Joan (Gerald) of Des Moines; brother, Pat (Rita) Miller of Salem, MO; nieces, Leah (Tim) Brown and their children, Jared, Alec, and Kailey of Pleasantville and Jana (Erick) Zawojewski and their children, Rhys and Rya of Iowa City. Shirley was a sincerely devoted family member and will be truly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vera Miller of Pleasantville and Lonnie Miller of Altoona.
McCalley Funeral Home in Adel has been trusted with arrangements and memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Lifeline of Iowa, P.O. Box 12 Carlisle, IA 50047.
