Barbara Cox Obituary

Longtime Durango resident Barbara Siverson Cox died after a long battle with breast cancer Monday, March 22, 2010, in

Durango. She was 59.

Known as “Janie," she was born to Robert and Martha Siverson on June 20, 1950, in Tulsa, Okla. Her family moved to

Durango in the early 1960s, and Mrs. Cox graduated from Durango High School in 1968. She attended Fort Lewis College

for a year.

On Aug. 27, 1977, she married Bill Cox in Durango.

Mrs. Cox managed the Hertz rental car office at the Durango-La Plata County Airport for 20 years. After managing the

Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise in Durango, she went to work in the delicatessen at north City Market. For the last

six years, she had worked in the deli at Albertsons.

She enjoyed camping and boating at Navajo Lake and Lake Powell.

Mrs. Cox is survived by her husband of 32 years, Bill Cox, of Durango; mother, Martha Siverson, of Durango; sisters

Anne Sueurof Albuquerque and Mary Siverson of Alexandria, Va.; and brother, Bob Siverson, of Douglasville, Ga.

No services are planned at this time.
