Allen Evans Obituary

Durango resident Allen Christopher Evans died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, in Durango. He was 36. The cause of death is undetermined at this time.

Known as "Chris," he was born June 17, 1975, in New Orleans. He moved to the Durango area in 2000.

Soon after moving here he met his future wife, Kristen Shubert. In April 2001, the couple married at Tamarron. The marriage ended in divorce in February 2008.

Mr. Evans worked at several area restaurants and as a flagman doing traffic control.

"Chris loved all his friends and family members, and loved being a father very much," his family said. "Chris loved to play guitar, and he also loved to read novels. He recently started rock climbing and loved the Colorado mountains."

Mr. Evans is survived by his son, Jayden Alexander-Rylie Evans, 10, of Durango; daughter, Jillian Brooke-Evelyn Evans, 6, of Durango; former wife, Kristen Shubert Evans, of Durango; brothers Addison Channing Evans-West of Florida and Adrian Craig Evans; and sisters Ashley Dawn Evans-West of Florida and Natasha Evans.

Cremation has occurred. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Rotary Park, behind the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4031, located at 1550 Main Ave. After a short graveside service at Greenmount Cemetery, a reception will be held at Manna Soup Kitchen, 1100 Avenida del Sol.

Memorial contributions to the Allen Christopher Evans Memorial Fund to help pay for the funeral may be made at First National Bank of Durango, 259 W. Ninth St. Any additional monies will be donated to the Manna Soup Kitchen.
