Alan Longmuir Obituary

I remember hearing about Alan being the founder of the Bay City Rollers. He was talented on the bass guitar, the acoustic guitar, and the key boards. After he left the band, he was replaced by Ian Mitchell, and Pat McGlynn. I actually the group in my hometown several years ago, and Les McKeown was the only original member in the band. Now, he's at a home where he can play Heavenly music for all eternity.

I'm saddened to know Alan passed away. I was a big fan of the Bay City Rollers as a teenager...fell in love with the band after hearing "Saturday Night ". My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. May he rest in peace.

Five years since you left us to live and love anew, Alan. You were taken too soon. Five years seems like an eternity and also like a blink. Still love you, still keeping an eye on Eileen, Derek, Jordan and all your family, friends and our Facebook pals. I'll never let the music die while there's still a breath in me. Alan was a great team leader for the Bay City Rollers. They played inspiring music for friends , family, and all the people they knew. Their music touched the hearts of everyone around them. I used to go wild over their tunes in the 70s. I got word about Alan's passing from a co-worker a few years ago. Now, he'll be able pas on his songs and hymns for all the people in Heaven forevermore.

I'm going to miss Alan just like I miss my mother, who is also gone home to be with the Lord now. His music was such an inspiration to all his fans. I'm sure he's probably looking down upon us, and singing songs of glory with all the angels and saints.

Three years since you left to live and love anew, Alan, and you are still and always be dearly loved and missed.

Such a wonderful time with a truly wonderful man who clearly had a love of music and took such joy performing for fans. He signed so many autographs that night and NEVER said "No" to his fans or the music. Exhausted though he was, he was never anything less than a very kind, gentlemanly plumber of a bloke who loved music and loved his fans, friends & family.

I will remember the smile you had in 2016, singing Rollers songs at the end of the play. I'm glad, when everything was said & done, that you were able to just enjoy singing & playing those great old songs. The music goes on...
We will never "... Let The Music Die". And we WILL "Remember"...

As a little girl, I remember my siblings dancing and growing with their music. He played an important role in the band and is heartbreaking to know that he passed away. The Bay City Rollers were a wonderful part of my teen years many moons ago but S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y night can still get me on my feet and dancing like a teenager. Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us. Now you will join the Heavenly band. My sincere condolences to the Longmuir family.

Oh Alan, such sadness that you left us. You and I met at a BCR concert which Les invited you to join him in the US. You and I pinky swore that you would come back to the US for another concert. rip alan, I remember going to your concert here in Calgary, alta , Canada, was one of thr best memories for the rest of my life, met a lot of nice people at the concert too. 1976, that was a fare wee back but it was worth it, your memory will always be cherished by us our fans. Alan i was a teenager when i became a fan of the bcrs i fainted at the odeon in edinburgh woke up to the red cross looking after me
And jumped of the balcony in the appollo theatre in glasgow we were all teenagers we'hav done anything to get to the rollers
I was there in the barrowlands to see you together we had a ball we saw you in the usher hall in ediburgh and we had another ball
We were over the moon when you and derek arrived in edinburgj for the unveiling of the bcrs plaque organised by graeme whitehead & others
