Amy Alexander Obituary

Amy Norris Alexander was born on October 14, 1956, to her parents Reginald "Buddy" Leonard Norris and Peggy Elaine Smith in Orange, Texas. Her father, Buddy was soon stationed in Puerto Rico.

Amy was a vibrant and smart child. She eventually became a big sister to her brother Robert Harold Norris and then to her sister, Jill Norris.

Amy loved growing up in Puerto Rico. She loved to sail on her sunfish and swim.

In 1974, Amy graduated from Episcopal Cathedral School. She wanted to see snow, so for her first year of college she attended Carol College in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Amy got more snow than she bargained for, so she transferred to Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is where she met her husband, Charles Neel Alexander.

In December 1982, Amy and Charles welcomed their daughter, Stacey Alexander. After moving around in New Mexico, the family moved to Austin in 1987 and eventually settled in Tow, Texas. Here they lived until 1999 but then moved to Galveston, Texas. Here, Amy would welcome her daughter, Rheannon Elaine Alexander in 2002.

Two years later, Amy and Charles moved back to Tow, Texas, where Amy became a big part in helping raise her granddaughter.

Amy loved living at Lake Buchanan and would spend the majority of her free time at the water.

Amy was also an animal lover and enjoyed working with her animals. This was evident in her jobs as a receptionist at the animal clinic in Galveston and at the Burnet Vet Clinic. She had held many different jobs but those were truly her favorite.

Amy passed away at her home on January 10,2025. Amy was a stroke and cancer survivor and lived her life to the fullest. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

Amy is preceded in death by her mother and father, and her brother Robert. Amy is survived by her daughter, Stacey Alexander of Burnet, TX. Her granddaughter Rheannon Elaine Alexander of Burnet; her husband Charles Neel Alexander of Marianna, Florida; her stepson, Neel Charles Alexander of Hollister, Mo.; and her sister Jill Draper of Temple, TX.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Amy on Saturday Feb. 15, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Thunderbird Resort and Event Center.
