Corey Christensen Obituary

Corey J Christensen, age 69, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, at his home in Lancaster, California, surrounded by his loved ones.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., and is open to all who wish to attend. Location: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3140 W. Avenue K, Lancaster. Corey was born on July 12, 1956, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. During his youth, he lived in Utah, Kansas, New York, and Florida before his family settled in California in 1969. Corey worked as a janitor for the Federal Aviation Agency while in high school, and graduated from Quartz Hill High in 1974.

He later worked for American Welding and was employed there when he married his high school sweetheart, Karen Taylor, in September 1975. Corey went on to work for Enduro Plumbing and later partnered with Daniel Robbins as co-owner of Premiere Plumbing. In November 1985, he earned his contractor's license as a general contractor, and in 1986 started his own business, Corey Christensen Construction and Plumbing. He took great pride in providing honest, quality work and serving his community with integrity.

Above all else, Corey cherished his family. He loved watching his daughters and grandchildren participate in their many sports and activities, camping with family, and exploring National Parks alongside his sweetheart. Corey had a lifelong love for the Boy Scouts of America and served faithfully as an assistant scoutmaster. For six years, he helped organize the "Survival of the Fittest" competition for scouts. He was especially proud to mentor his oldest grandson through his Eagle Scout project.

Corey devoted much of his life to service through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For the past 25 years, he volunteered at the Los Angeles Temple, working every Friday since 2008 when he became an ordinance worker, and recently serving as a shift coordinator. He firmly believed that serving others was the most rewarding part of his life.

Corey is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Karen Christensen; his four daughters, Nicole Christensen, Jamie Christensen, Mercedes Coronado, and Rachel Christensen; his six grandchildren, Isaiah, Cove, Corey, Aria, Emily, and Tucker; and his brother, Vern Christensen. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kalynn Michelle Christensen, his parents, John and Faun Christensen, and his brothers,.Gary, Gale, Bryan, and Carl.

Corey's life was a living example of the gospel he loved. He believed deeply in the eternal nature of families and taught by quiet, consistent example. His devotion as a husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and servant reflected the Savior's love and teachings. As President Dallin H. Oaks taught, "Parents, single or married-and others like grandparents, who fill that role-are the master teachers, and their most effective teaching is by example… Families unite when they do meaningful things together, and those happy experiences strengthen family ties." Corey lived these principles daily, and his legacy will continue through the generations he so dearly loved.

I met Cory over the year or so while he was working on the AV Truck Stop. He was a honest hard worker he did everything the right way, he was a man of his word. I had been texting him as I had a Job for him. It was not like him not to reply. It was not until today I found out about his passing. I thought about him a lot today he will be truly missed rest in peace
