Elizabeth Schiavone Doerr, 100, passed on of natural causes at Evangelical Home - Saline on March 21. After graduating from Flint Central High School in Michigan, she served for several years during WWII as a civilian secretary with the US Army in Washington, DC. Upon leaving Washington, she worked as a secretary for the RP Lewis Company in Flint, Michigan. Elizabeth left secretarial work for marriage and devoted work as a homemaker where she loved and raised her four children over the next twenty years. After the last child left home, she worked as a secretary for ten years at General Motors in Flint before retirement. Elizabeth married Joseph Doerr in 1988. Elizabeth and Joseph enjoyed retirement together in North Carolina for thirty-two years where they were devoted parishioners at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Hendersonville. She was an outstanding mother, grandmother and especially great-grandmother and the last of our very own greatest generation.
She is survived by daughter, Patricia Lewis; son, Laurence (Cathy) Lewis; grandchild, Kevin (Sarah) Lewis; and great grand-children, Luca, Olivia and Braedyn Lewis.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents, Raffaelle and Adelina (Serra) Schiavone; her first husband, RP Lewis, Jr.; her second husband, Joseph Doerr; two daughters, Kathleen (Lewis) Drewyer and Morgan Lewis; and great-grandson, Braxton Lewis.
Funeral mass will be announced for a date to be determined, with interment of cremated remains later in Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Road, Flint, MI.
