March 29, 1941 - April 19, 2021

Rosie Marquez, age 80, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2021 surrounded by her children. Rosie was born on March 29, 1941 to Arcita and J.M. Montoya in Del Norte, Colorado.

Rosie moved to Durango, Colorado in her early 20's where she worked at Mercy Hospital as a CNA. She had many adventures with her friends and her sister Evelyn during her time in Durango, culminating in her meeting the love of her life, Charlie Marquez. After their marriage on November 4, 1962 they moved to San Francisco, Ca and then to Fremont, Ca to raise their family.

She got a job at National Semiconductor while her husband Charlie worked as a cobbler to support their family. Rosie, Charlie, and their kids would often spend their weekends at the San Jose Flea Market or visiting with Charlie's brother Eddie and his family.

After losing her husband to cancer in 1988 Rosie became even more devoted to her family and eventually moved back to Colorado to be close to her sister Evelyn and her best friend Vivian where she lived for close to 10 years. She loved being able to walk right next door to Evelyn's house every morning to have coffee together and visit.

In an effort to better monitor her health, Rosie again moved back to California to live with her daughter Michelle and her grandson. She enjoyed spending time with both of her grandchildren, gardening, and getting cozy to watch tv with her dog.

She is survived by her 3 children Jeffrie, Charles, and Michelle and her daughter-in-law Lisa, as well as her two grandsons Austin and Lukas.

Services will be held on Friday, April 30th at Berge Pappas Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94538 at 10 am followed by a burial with limited capacity at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, 48800 Warm Springs Blvd., Fremont, CA 94538.
