Michael Ewan Chowen, 42 died unexpectedly March 16, 2021 at his home inn Durango Colorado. He was born March 4, 1979 in Minnetonka MN , the son of Ewan Chowen and Susan (Pinney) Usaitis.
Michael worked in Durango at Mesa color, currently Evolution Powder Coating as a painter. He took pride in his work and thought of his coworkers as family. You can see his work all over town from benches to bike racks.
Michael was a family man, always putting his family first. He was loyal to those he loved. He was a loving father, anyone who knew him knew his heart was huge. He made many sacrifices for his children and loved ones. He loved watching his son play football, throwing a fishing line in at the lake with his dog Apollo and having dinner at his parent's house. He could always find some laughs with his siblings and enjoyed hanging out with his friends. He never hesitated to lend a hand if needed, he was reliable, caring, and funny. This world will forever feel the loss of Michael.
Michael will be lovingly remembered by his parents Ewan and Elsie Chowen, Steve and Susan Usaitis, His siblings Katie Chowen, Daniel and Heidi Chowen, his children Rayah and Michael Chowen, and their mother Jessica Clark. He will be fondly remembered by his nephew Nicholas Olsen and his nieces Adwyn and Jolie Chowen. He will be greatly missed by his aunts, uncles, and many cousins in Minnesota.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, the family will determine when.

I just heard this sad news. I have not seen or talked to Michael in at least 15 years but I loved him dearly once. It breaks my heart to hear this news. Sending all my love and light to Susan and Steve and his children and Jessica I know you all must be hurting. I have many good memories together and always wanted to best for him. I have some pics I will have to dig up to share. Rest in Peace, may your soul be free. <3 <3 <3

He was, “a rock” for his grandmother, Susan, who misses him so. He called daily, took her places, visited her often, and was always kind to her. Her friends will be here for her and Steve along this difficult journey.
