Lynne Mueller passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the age of 80, after a five-year battle with multiple myeloma.
Lynne was born in Rahway, New Jersey, but her family traveled west to Colorado when she was a young girl, settling in the Denver area. Having an adventurous spirit, after high school she moved to San Francisco for a brief time, then lived in Phoenix where she fell in love with her husband Robert Mueller after a first date skiing in Flagstaff. They moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan for Bob to attend dental school. They then moved to Durango, Colorado in 1970. Lynne loved the mountains and outdoor life and she and Bob raised a daughter and two sons
with a love for the outdoors. Lynne went back to school at Fort Lewis College and subsequently earned a Masters of Education from Adams State. She taught at Sunnyside Elementary until she retired. She loved the time she got to spend with her students and was always thinking of new ideas to improve their ability to read. During retirement she filled her time with travel to various countries with her husband and spent time, often hiking and camping, with her children, their spouses, and grandchildren. She also loved listening to country music and enjoyed a good stout after a long hike.
She was survived by her husband Bob; her son Scott and wife Julie; son Kevin and wife Leslie; daughter Cathy and husband Chris; her brother Duncan; and eight grandchildren: Brady, Lindsey, Maddie, Dylan, Alex, Ryan, Matthew, and Avery. She was preceded in death by her brothers Bruce and Stuart, and her mother Carolyn.
In lieu of flowers, the family knows Lynne would love nothing better than for everyone to take a hike or nature walk in her honor, listen to some good country music, or drink a stout and share some memories of her. Memorial contributions can also be made in her memory to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. No services will be held at this time.

I enjoyed teaching with Lynne at Sunnyside, she was a lot of fun and a supportive co-worker.

I am so sorry to hear of Lynne's passing. She was my study partner in education classes at Fort Lewis. She brightened my day every time I saw her. I enjoyed seeing her on a walk, in a school or skiing down the mountain. She was a friend to everyone. My best to her family.
