Loren Ray Miller, aged 88, of Durango, Colorado, passed away on May 25th, 2021. Loren is survived by wife Patricia Miller, son Walter Miller and wife Tami, grandson Jacob Miller and wife Beth, all of Durango, Colorado; granddaughter Whitney Miller Pollard and husband Andy, and their twins: daughter Madelyn and son Jack of Fort Collins, Colorado; and brother Erie Miller of Mt. Vernon, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his father Leonard, and mother Ella Miller, brother Kenneth (Hoot) and wife Carmel, brother Eldred (Cotton) Miller, sister Lola Mae Easton, sister Doris Francis and her husband, Ken.
Loren was born July 21st, 1932 in Fruita, Colorado, to Ella Kohls Miller and Leonard Miller. The family were farmers in Fruita, then Price, Utah, and then Tucumcari, New Mexico. Upon graduating Tucumcari High School in 1950, Loren spent four years in the U.S. Navy.
In September of 1955 he married Patricia Sue Swain in San Jon, New Mexico. They moved to Arcata, California, where on October 5th, 1956 their son Walter Ray Miller was born. In November of 1962 they moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, and in April of 1972 they moved to Durango, Colorado.
Loren worked forty years for the telephone company. Upon retiring, he and Pat liked to fish, hunt, and travel with the local Good Sam RV Chapter. They also enjoyed travelling abroad and have spent the last twenty-six winters in Maui, Hawaii, in a house built by Loren and Pat alongside Pat's sister and brother-in-law: Ann and Harold.
Cremation has occurred. No service was requested by Loren. He will be remembered by family and friends for his love of gardening and homemade ice cream, outdoor adventures, and the bear hugs he gave his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family is grateful for the outpouring of love from neighbors and the community.
