I met Jane through the Durango Arts Center. Jane and I had an immediate connection and I valued her support of the DAC and her interest in education. She was a talented artist and truly singular in many ways. In 2016, after I had made a donation to the GOAL program at the DAC, Jane sent me a personal thank you and it was on a card where she had placed a piece of her personal art work. I put this piece in a frame and it is my living room. Every day, I think of Jane as I see this beautiful artistic expression she created. Jane was a gift to our community and she did so much to support artists. I am sending my heartfelt condolences to her family and many friends. She leaves a lasting legacy and I am glad she is now at peace. My life is better because I knew Jane Steele.
