Jordan Kelly Obituary

Jordan Kelly passed away quietly in his Durango apartment on July 3, 2019, at the early age of 28. His smile and quick wit will be missed dearly by his family and loved ones. He was the firstborn son of Darlis Jean Burris of Durango and Jeff Kelly of Plano, TX. They celebrated his birth in Michigan in 1991, as he was the first of four children. He later graduated with his BS in Economics from SMU in Dallas, TX and worked locally at the Glacier Country Club. He is survived by his parents Darlis and Jeff, and three brothers Colin, Ryan and Austin Kelly.

Jordan enjoyed reading and learning. He avidly watched the History Channel and could quote his historical facts with confidence and ease. He loved the mountains, snowboarding, working out for his physical enjoyment, at home he enjoyed partaking and preparing a good meal.

A celebration of Jordan's life will be held at the River Church 860 Plymouth Drive, Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Adaptive Sports Assoc. or the Manna Soup Kitchen. Jordan Kelly

Jordan as you know we had your celebration today. I still can't believe that you have passed you were one of my best friends. My life will never be the same without the joy that you brought to it. I know you heard me read your tribute today but I thought I would include it for anyone that wants to read it and so that you can read it again.

"It is with a heavy heart and a trembling hand that I write this tribute for my dear friend Jordan Kelly. As we gather here today to celebrate his life I hope we can all recall the joyful memories that we all shared with him. While we mourn let us not forget that he would want us to celebrate his life and while he is no longer among us he lives in our hearts forever.
I met Jordan at Renner (thats middle school for all the non-Plano folk) and it was from that moment on that we began to develop our lifelong friendship. While we had many good memories in middle school I think it will be our shenanigans that I will always remember, from getting pencils stuck in Mr. Gs ceiling to covering the Gleneagles 18th fairway in golf balls. If there was one thing I knew about Jordan then, its that he would never let the rules of life hold him back from living.
From there we went on to high school together and then to SMU. Those years are filled with more memories than I recall from the mundane random Wednesday night dinners, to house parties, to driving around for no reason. Ill never forget in high school my mom yelling up stairs letting me know your close because she could hear the speakers coming down the street from the Escalade. I will always remember the spirited economic and political arguments we would have with Mike always such a liberal but one of your best friends never the less. Summer nights in Dicksons backyard, gaming at Ds house, driving the M3 with Gomez, Gleneagles with Conor, rolling around in Blaynes Mercedes, hanging in Shaynes theatre, messing around at the fitness center with Adam, Monday Night Football every Monday at my apartment, the list could go on and Im glad it could as you were instrumental in bringing moments of happiness into all our lives.
Jordan you are one of my true friends one that I could always depend and one that understood the meaning of true friendship. I hope that all of us here today will celebrate Jordans life and all that he brought to us. I will end with a quote to remind we of Jordans love of history and to reflect on how he lived his life. I would like to share a quote from Douglas MacArthur, the American General of the Pacific Fleet during the Second World War: You are remembered for the rules you break. "

Also, not sure if you caught it but MacArthur ran the Army it was Nimitz that commanded the fleet but I'm sure that would never make it past you. Miss and love you man.

He was a beautiful baby, beautiful young man, and with all the memories left about him, he was also a beautiful friend. How else do you leave a wonderful tribute to a young man who leaves lasting memories with those who loved him. His friends know him best. God knows the heart. RIP

Jordan I write this with a heavy heart, it's still very unreal to me that I'll never get to create another memory with you but I will cherish the countless memories we shared. You grew into something more than just a friend but a brother. You had the kindest soul and over just a joyous person to be around. A big part of me is missing now that you're not with us, until we meet again..

My heart hurts. Jordan you left us way too soon. I am beyond grateful for the memories we made since the day we met in middle school and I will cherish them always. I am so happy I was able to spend time with you at the Behgam's wedding.
To the Kelly family- you are all in mine and my family's thoughts and prayers. Jordan was a light in so many people's lives and he will be deeply missed.

Jordan, from throwing blocks across the hallway in Ms. Byrtalik's first grade class to hanging around the fitness center everyday with Adam (and me mooching off of your written workouts) we've always had a great time. A few of us got together today in your memory and it had occurred to me that the couple of times I can think of where I laughed the hardest in my life was a result of your sense of humor.

Man, I can't tell you how much I'm going to miss your low-end laugh, knowledge of world war 2 history, and most of all, your friendship. It will live on through our stories of our times together and our hearts and memories.

Rest In Peace, Jordan. We love you brother.

Jordan,

I will always remember you as my brother. You were one of the most humble and genuine out of our group of friends. We understood each other and in turn I learned a lot from you. I love you Jordan and I was lucky to have met you. You are not in this world but in our hearts, you have a special place.
