Mrs. Beatrice Louise Furnas (Pollock) Thurston, aka Mickie, of Durango, CO passed away at age 86 on August 30, 2018 in her home in Durango. Beatrice was born on January 8, 1933 in New Haven, CT to the late Sparkle Moore Furnas and the late Clifford Cook Furnas. Beatrice graduated from Cornell University and Columbia for graduate school. Beatrice enjoyed gardening, canning food, dogs, birding and her many philanthropic actions for the community.
Beatrice was married to the late William R. Thurston. She is survived by her sons Mark Thurston, Stephen Thurston, & Douglas Thurston; daughter Jennifer Thurston; step-daughters Karen Thurston, Amy Thurston Ng, and Ruth Anna Thurston; grandchildren Chris Thurston, Scott Thurston, Erin Thurston, Max Thurston, Rebecca Thurston, Paul Thurston, Sam Thurston, Duke Millett, & Seamus Millett; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are welcome & appreciated and can be made in Beatrice's name to Fort Lewis College Foundation Artist in Residence Program or to Crow Canyon Archaeological Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
