Patricia Ann Schultz
May 24, 1947 ~ March 3, 2026
Age 78
Patricia “Pat” “Grammy” Ann Schultz, 78, of Wausau, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, March 3, 2026, at Mount View Care Center.
Born on May 24, 1947, in Laona, Wisconsin, to Francis D. and Ann L. (Starling) Sturzl, Pat grew up surrounded by the beauty of Silver Lake and the warmth of a close‑knit family. She spent her entire youth in Laona and graduated from Laona High School in 1965. It was in Laona that she met the love of her life, John Schultz Sr., on a blind date. Their connection was instant and enduring. After a year of dating, they married on November 26, 1966, at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church, beginning a lifelong journey filled with devotion and partnership.
They moved to Whitewater where John attended college. Pat worked full-time for Sturgis Newport Business Forms to support her family while John finished his degree. Over the years, their family grew, and they welcomed their 3 children, Mary, John Jr., and Steve. Pat embraced her role as a stay‑at‑home mom with complete joy and purpose. Though family always came first, she later enjoyed working at the Minnesota State Capitol in the clerical department while living in Stillwater, MN. In 2001, the couple made the Wausau area their home.
Pat was a proud member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Rothschild, and her deep faith was evident in the grace and kindness she showed to everyone she met.
Family was the center of Pat’s world. She was delighted to attend every school event, recital, and game that she could. First as a mom, then as “Grammy” and even as “Aunt Pat”. She loved taking care of her grandchildren when needed, cooking, baking and finding joy in every moment spent with them. Holidays were especially dear to her heart, with Christmas holding a special place among her cherished traditions.
Growing up in Laona on Silver Lake shaped Pat’s lifelong love of lakes and the ocean and the peaceful shimmer of sunlight dancing across them. In her later years, she treasured spending winters in Florida with John, her siblings Franny and Donna and Penny, Franny’s wife, sharing laughter, stories, and precious time together.
Pat will be lovingly remembered for her smile, warmth, her kind and gentle spirit, and her unwavering devotion to the people she cared about most.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 59-years, John; her children, Mary (Brad) Hoelter of Wausau, Steve Schultz (Patience Caso) of Minneapolis, and daughter‑in‑law Angel Schultz of Green Bay; her grandchildren, Brooke and Dylan Schultz, Jack (Makenzi Gale) and Grace Hoelter, and Michael Schultz; and her great‑grandson, Victor Schultz. She is also survived by her siblings, Francis (Penny) Sturzl Jr. of Laona, Larry (Mary) Sturzl of Green Bay, Donna Mohr of Franklin, and Lenny Sturzl of Colorado, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her son, John Schultz Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pat’s honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090‑6011, or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284‑0692.
A visitation for Pat will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church, 5330 Beech Street in Laona, from 9:30 AM until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass celebrated by Fr. Anil Polumari. Immediately following the Mass, all are invited to join the family for a luncheon in celebration of Pat’s life in the church hall.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Laona Cemetery.

We were so lucky to have Pat as our Aunt. She was so kind and she loved to have fun with her family. I will forever cherish our conversations while floating in tubes on Silver Lake, playing late night card games, our hunting season shopping trips. She had such a great sense of style and her personality was as shiny or sparkly as the shoes or shirt she would be wearing and she made us laugh with her crazy sweet tooth! Rest in peace Auntie Pat❤
