I first referred to you as "Mrs. Garris"...I was a "baby nurse" then....At some point along the way, your name changed (for me) to "momma" or "mom." I am glad that it did. I will remember the soft and sweet way you spoke when you talked with "old people."--You never became an old person yourself-- but you certainly loved spending time with them :)
I am grateful for our friendship, and I will always remember you walking the halls on Sunday's..I will remember the recurring moments when I walked into a resident's room--and you were visiting with them at their bedside. Even if you did not know them and they did not know you. Even if they were confused and agitated...Even if you were tired. You held an uncanny gift to speak calmness into the room...You made this seem so easy...
Rest now Mrs. Pat. I will be seeing you...
(I will be sure to look after that daughter of yours, she has looked after me for so long it is about time I can return the favor :) We will love you and miss you forever.
