Sammy Mestas began his journey to heaven on Saturday, July 7, 2018. Born in Durango, CO on November 16, 1962 to Roger and Dolores Mestas. Sammy was well-known for his athletic talent in both middle and high school. He was a natural in every sport he played. Sammy worked for Pepsi in Durango for many years and then moved to Grand Junction when the company transferred. After Pepsi, he worked as a roofer in both Durango and Colorado Springs. Sammy loved spending time with family friends and his four-legged buddy Rocco. He loved his Denver Broncos. He is preceded in death by his mother Dolores and brother Dane Mestas. He is survived by his father Roger Mestas, siblings Iva Esquibel (Don), Dina Mestas, Valerie Garcia, Roger Mestas, and Joey Mestas (J. Leigh) of Durango and Barbara Mayberry (George) of Oklahoma. Children Tiffani and Sam Mestas of Durango, and Dominic Bera of Grand Junction. Four Grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sammy will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Parish Church in Durango, CO at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 28, 2018. Burial to follow at La Posta Cemetery.
