Terrell Eugene (Terry) Blackburn Obituary
Born in Oklahoma City September 27, 1933. Passed August 25, 2017 in Portland, Oregon after a brief illness. Terry lived in Durango, Colorado, from 1974 - 1989. He owned and operated TEBCO Construction Company and Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts. He was preceded in death by his first wife Shirley Blackburn. Terry enjoyed rebuilding custom hot rods, hunting, boating and all sports. He also liked watching the Denver Broncos, especially because he played semi-professional football for The Orange County Rhinos in California for over 10 years. He retired from playing football at age 32 when the Rhinos merged with a professional team, The San Diego Chargers. Terry is survived by his wife Sandra Blackburn of Sandy, Oregon, sisters Malacha Ewing of West Covina, California, RuthAnn Hawkins of Anaheim, California, children Michael Blackburn (Terry) of Meridian Idaho, Sheree Culhane (Danny) , Vicki Vandegrift (Todd) and Kirk Blackburn all of Durango, Colorado, nine Grandchildren and sixteen Great Grandchildren, as well as many extended family members. A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 4:00 pm at The Fort Lewis College Chapel, 1000 Rim Drive, Durango, Colorado. Terry's brain was donated to the Chronic Traumatic Encephalopahty Center at Boston University School of Medicine for the purpose of doing research on traumatic brain injury due to contact sports.
