Stephen Craig Smith, 58, of Durango, CO passed away surrounded by his family on March 30, 2017 from pneumonia. He was born to Patricia Gambill Smith and the late Jack Smith in Dallas, TX, May 19, 1958. He met his wife, Susan Thompson Smith, while attending UT Arlington. He graduated from Baylor Dental in Dallas in 1984. He practiced dentistry in Arlington, TX. He relocated to Durango with his wife and their three children Rachel Smith Copp (Garett), Evan Smith and Audrey Smith in 2001. Steve loved playing softball during the summer, adventuring with his family in the local mountains, gardening and playing bass in the church band. He was known for his dry humor, love of sports, and a passion for health, spirituality and bringing out the best qualities in others. He will be greatly missed. His family finds peace knowing he's at home with the Lord.
He is survived by the prior mentioned and his siblings Greg Smith of Durango, CO, Michael Smith of Dallas, TX, and Stacy Smith Eschbach (Neil) of Glen Rose, TX.
A memorial honoring Steve was held at Grace Church in Durango, CO on Monday, April 3rd.

My sincere thoughts to the family of Steve. We were junior high and high school classmates together in Grand Prairie, TX. Steve's character, kindness, and good heart were known to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
