Ryder Spahr Obituary

Ryder Scott Spahr, born November 19, 1926 in Salt Lake City, UT peacefully passed away November 17 two days shy of his 89th birthday. Scott grew up in Tulsa, OK where he attended the University of Tulsa. A mechanical engineer, he worked for Born Engineering and the John Zink Company before he became co-owner of Econo Therm and Radco engineering firms.

He retired and moved to Durango, Colorado in 1978 where he worked for the forest service, mapping trails and updating maps, in the mountains he so loved. He started Design Engineering, working on a variety of projects in Southwestern Colorado.

He loved his wife, family and serving his country as a Marine in World War II and Korea receiving multiple commendations and two purple hearts. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, snow skiing, boating, water sports, hunting, hiking and all outdoor activities with numerous friends, family and his wife Kenni. Scott is survived by his wife Kennalee Spahr; two sons, Randy (Cheryl) and Rob (Leesa); a daughter, Kristi Collins; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. He was greatly loved and will be thoroughly missed. Semper Fi. Services Pending

Words are not enough to express our big feelings. We miss Scott's voice and his love for our country. We remember his dinner table conversations and the fun times we shared. We feel lucky to have walked along with him while we could. We hope we can meet again on the other side.
