On Thursday, September 13th, Roy Lyons, loving father of three, passed away at the age of 66. Roy was born on January 9th, 1952 in Philadelphia, PA to John Farren Lyons and Mary Catherine Hughes. Roy graduated from Millersville State College and later received his doctorate from Northern Arizona University. He was a teacher and Principal in Havasupai, Arizona. He was a principal and administrator in Ignacio, Colorado from 1984- 2006.
He is survived by a brother Jack Lyons and his wife Nancy, sister Joyce Schuh, and step brother Billie Hepworth. Roy married Beverly Matson In 1981 and they divorced in 2013. They had three children-Grant Lyons from Grand Junction, CO, Jarad Lyons and wife Lauren Brandsetter from Grand Junction, CO and Kelsey Lyons -Hocker and husband Rodney Hocker from Durango,CO. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren and one more on the way!
Roy had a passion for life! He loved photography, hunting, fishing, and his family. He was known for his stories about his life in the Grand Canyon, his 40 year career as an educator as well as his children and grandchildren. He loved to share his Palisade peaches, elk jerky and pictures whenever possible.

A celebration of life will be held on September 29th, 2018 at the Ignacio High School at 1 o'clock pm.
