Michael Boggs Obituary

April 29, 1940-August 14, 2018

Rod Boggs passed away on the night of August 14, 2018, with friend and family at his bedside. Rod was born in Whitesburg, KY, to Clyde and Dorsey Boggs. He moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico with his parents in 1947, where he graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1958. He attended college at Texas Tech., and graduated with a degree in geology from the University of Colorado in 1969.

He was married to his wife Amanda for 54 years. They lived in Tayoltita, state of Durango, Mexico for 5 years where he was exploration geologist until he returned to Colorado in 1974. He raised commercial cattle, and horses on his Wildwater Ranch for 37 years, and retired to Wickenburg, Arizona in 2008, where he lived until his death. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and went on safari to Tanzania, and Zambia, hunted big game in Alaska, Colorado, New Mexico, Florida, Austria, England and Russia. His favorite fishing hole was the Pacific Ocean, in Easter Island, where he caught bone fish, and rescued a tern from drowning after it had caught his bone fish fly on the back cast.

He was predeceased by his parents Clyde and Dorsey, and sisters-in-law Elisabeth, GeorgeAnna, and Robin. He is survived by his wife Amanda of the family home, her sisters Julie Stephan of Nevada, and Doris, (Ned) Westphal of South Dakota, nieces and nephews Christopher, Marta, GeorgeAnna, Elisabeth, David, and Bill, and grand-nephews Cameron, and Robin of Minnesota, Pohaku and Kapono, of Hawaii, and grand-nieces Della, of Minnesota, and Lana, and Eddy June of Oregon.

He left numerous friends all over the world.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Hospice of the Valley, or the Sun Health Foundation/diabetes research.
