Mark William Nichols, 65, died surrounded by his loved ones on November 19th, 2017, after a long Illness. Mark is survived by his wife of 43 years, Beverley (Smith) Nichols. Mark had five children; Michelle (Matt) Gilman-Sams, April (Pete) Lopez, Natalie (Shane) Rowe, Dusty (Sandy) Nichols, and Fred Nichols. Mark leaves behind; his sister, Bernice (Barry) Harmer, Deanne (Paul) Brown, Richard Nichols, and Debbie (Gregg) Janus. Mark had seventeen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. His family meant the world to him.
Mark was an accomplished Chef, Miner and a Systems Analyst. Mark met his beloved wife in Norfolk, NE where he was a Sous Chef at the Villa Inn. He began his mining career in the Gold Mines, above Silverton Colorado. He moved his family to Grants, NM to continue mining, at the Kerr-Mcgee Uranium Mine. He attended NMSU, where he received Presidential Honors and eventually earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. Ultimately he became the Senior Systems Analyst for Peabody Energy. In 2011 Mark retired, and moved with Beverley to Albuquerque to be near his kids and grandkids. Mark enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and discussing politics. He was a fan of the Broncos and the Cubs, and he enjoyed taking long rides around Albuquerque.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruth Nichols, his step-son Joseph, and his nephew Brent Janus.Cremation has occurred and a Celebration of Life will be held in May.
