Marian Elizabeth Hittenrauch Obituary
Former Durango resident Marian Elizabeth Hittenrauch passed away on September 16, 2017, after a brief illness. She was 82. Marian was born in Lenawee County Michigan to Mary (Mohr) and Herman Titley on February 2, 1935. After marrying Howard (Bud) Hittenrauch, Marian and Bud moved to Colorado where Bud began his career as a forester. Marian was an influential teacher and leader at Park Elementary and Riverview Elementary schools. She taught 6th grade for 25 years and was president of the Durango Education Association from 1976-1980. Marian enjoyed gathering with family and friends, camping, traveling, and sharing her optimistic outlook. Marian and her husband retired to Albany, Oregon, in 1990 where they enjoyed camping and whale watching on the Oregon Coast.

Marian was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend. She is preceded in death by her husband Howard Hittenrauch, her brother Dale Titley, brother-in-law Stewart Peck, and sister-in-law Joanne Titley. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Jerry Delie, son and daughter-in- law Eric and Judy Hittenrauch, daughter Laura Hittenrauch, and grandchildren Jason, Rusty, Beth, and Brian.

Marian lived her life by the Golden Rule. She treated others with dignity, compassion, and tolerance. It would have pleased Marian very much to know that a contribution in her name has been made to the Southern Poverty Law Center, ACLU, or Planned Parenthood.
