Beth Mari Brunso died unexpectedly on Monday, December 26, 2016 at the age of 48. Beth the youngest daughter of Dr. David and Janice Munger, from Tubac, Arizona was born on February 11, 1968 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.|
In December of 1991 Beth graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff with a degree in elementary education and moved to Durango in May of 1992.
Beth helped shape countless young lives and was in her ninth year of teaching 4th grade at Park Elementary School after teaching at Miller Middle School and Animas Valley Elementary. She was adored by her students and coworkers. She put in countless hours to make sure that her students had a fun learning experience and were always challenged, engaged and empowered. She loved the kids and shared her passion for learning and life with each and every one.
Beth soaked in everything the outdoors has to offer and embraced the area around Durango for hiking, running, biking and camping especially during the summer, which was her favorite time of year. She also loved attending and pushing herself at daily workout classes at the Durango Vault. Her family meant the world to her and has always been her number one priority. Regardless of what was planned her hectic schedule, family always came first and she continually put her own needs aside to tend to other's. Beth was an exceptional cook and baker, skills she learned from her mother, and she referred to the kitchen as her "happy place."
Beth had a never ending passion for life and savored each and every day spent with friends and family. She was very gregarious and her outgoing and welcoming personality was infections and put people at ease no matter what the circumstance. She was an extremely giving and selfless person who never gave of herself looking for recognition or anything in return. Throughout her life she always made time to help others. Beth volunteered for numerous charities including Manna Soup Kitchen, The Salvation Army, Girls on the Run, Big Brothers and Big Sisters and leave a lasting impression on those lucky enough to know her.
Beth is survived by her husband, Sven, son, Stowe and daughter, Aspen. She is also survived by her parents David and Janice Munger and siblings Brad Munger (Carla), Molly Harris (Kevin), Mindy Harper (Matt), Max Munger (Katie) as well as her 11 nieces and nephews, all of Arizona.
Beth believed a life well lived was cause for a celebration and there will be a celebration of Beth's life held in Durango in the Summer of 2017.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Donor Alliance in Beth's name because in true Beth fashion she continued to give even after death through organ donation.
