Sally Mitchell, of Montrose Colorado, passed away early Monday morning February 13th, surrounded by her loving family. Sally Lamson Mitchell, daughter of Dorothy Steven and Stewart Lamson, was born on June 18th, 1925 in Woburn, Massachusetts. She was the only daughter of 4 children. Sally spent much of her life on the coast of Maine, raising her children and working as a volunteer for The Women's Exchange.
Sally moved to Colorado in the early 90's to be closer to her daughters. She lived in Durango for 18 years, where she made many dear friends and participated in charities and organizations, including the Durango Chapter of PEO, Bridge Babes, and Chimney Rock National Monument.
Sally moved to Montrose 4 years ago, and once again, easily made many new friends. She was an avid golfer, tennis player, swimmer, and world traveler. She loved to sew, knit and color, and enjoyed knitting hats for newborn babies that she would donate to the hospital.
Sally is survived by her brother, Newton Lamson, of Ridgewood, New Jersey; children, Leslie Rowson, of Atlanta, Georgia; Stevie Gowdy, of Cortez, Colorado; Stewart Tuttle, of US Virgin Islands; Sue Watson, of Flagler Beach, Florida; Chris Newman, of Placerville, Colorado; Stepchildren Mark Mitchell, of Durham, Maine; Scott Mitchell, of Bowdoinham, Maine; Hilary Innis, of Harpswell, Maine, 13 grandchildren, and 15 1/2 great-grandchildren. Her husband, John Mitchell, preceded her in death.
A Celebration of Sally's life will be held at the Holiday Inn on Niagara and Townsend in Montrose on Saturday, February 25th, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HopeWest Hospice , 725 S. 4th Street, Montrose, Co. 81401. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose, is assisting the family.

I am so sorry to hear of Sally's passing. She was a special person, I always admired her sense of humor and strength. Even though I haven't seen Sally in years , I have thought of her often
