Still one of the wisest, kindest and best men ever. I take his spirit with me to my back country camps, that I know he would love.

Just yesterday I was driving past the neighborhood of Earl and Mimi, and remembering Earl. He was everything that a man should be and achieve. Above all, his kindness, wisdom and consideration shone forth. I am sure he would have reveled in the recent election results! Much love!

What a wonderful, thoughtful and gentle soul. Earl's was a life well lived, and I feel fortunate to have known him. Were the world filled with people of his kind; nature would abound and only good things would come to pass.

Grandfather Scotty always challenged me to feel deeper, think harder, and travel farther. I always felt so encouraged in my studies and was always excited to tell him about what I was learning, espeically when I started studying Latin and classics. I liked that he never let me get away with not thinking things through, even when I was little. He always made sure that I knew why I thought the way I did -- even if he disagreed with me.
We both liked to read. We both liked to argue. We both really liked dark chocolate. I was always so excited to hear what he had to say about what I was working on. Whether it be acting in a play, writing for a newspaper, or exploring the world, I always felt like he was my number one fan cheering me on.
I will miss him a lot and can only hope at the end of my time in the world that I leave behind a legacy like he did, filled with so many accomplishments and so many people who love me.

Scotty encouraged my enjoyment of classical music and my appreciation for the adventures of the outdoors. He showed me how to value a still environment and how to look for the beauty of plain things. He let me have extra bowls of Strawberry Cheesecake Blue Bunny and let me ride in the front seat of his vehicles. He enjoyed verbal jousting matches and began engaging me in challenges at an early age. He challenged me towards a stronger belief system, to excel in my education, and my vocabulary. He was a man of many talents and I'm happy to call him Grandfather.

I knew Earl but a fraction of his life. in that short time we talked quite a bit and I grew to respect and love Earl for his insights, his zest for life, and his never-ending quest for knowledge.
When Earl, passed it was the loss of a great person. All his accolades and accomplishments may soon be forgotten, but Earl won't be his spirit will live on, because he touched so many lives and for that he will be remembered long after he's gone.
I wish that I could have known him longer. I'll miss you Earl as will many. All my love and respect, Ken.

Scotty has set off on his next great adventure. As always he's leading the way . He left us on November 9th to continue his journey. I will be forever grateful to him for taking care of my Mom and little sister the last 42 years and allowing me to join him on several memorable adventures. He will be missed, but I'm sure we'll meet again along the trail.
See you in a little while!

Dear Mimi and family,
May you find peace and comfort in knowing that Scotty lived life to the fullest, loving and caring for his family and friends. He is a great example of one who was unafraid to go for all that the good Lord had in store for Him --to receive the blessings of the abundant life. We are holding you in prayer.

Earl was a grand and generous soul. He always welcomed me into his home in a gracious manner, sharing his wit and his wine in the fullest spirit of hospitality. Conversations at the rec. center weight room marked him as a brilliant mind, even as he hoisted weights in his late eighties. Attesting to his life vision and spiritual wholeness is his life partner, my dear sister, Mim, who has offered so much to so many through her endeavors at healing, yoga, spirituality and sweet, kindly friendship. Earl will be deeply missed as our memories of a fine human remain with us forever!

Scotty introduced me to sailing at Cedar Point Yacht Club many years ago which brought many years of fun and sailing. He was always available with wisdom and advice through out the years. I will treasure our walks in the woods, our hiking and horseback riding adventures, his smile and his loving kindness. Until we meet again, Scotty. I love you.

Dear "Baby Man",
"If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together ....there is something you must always remember :
You are braver than you believe,
Stronger than you seem,
And smarter than you think.
But the most important thing is, even if we're apart....Lll always be with you."
I'll always love you,
The Miminelle

When someone we love falls asleep in death, we treasure the fond memories we have of them. May those cherished memories of a life well lived and God's promise at John 6:40 bring you a measure of comfort. Please accept my heart felt sympathy.
