Ray Walters passed away unexpectedly on February 6th, 2018. He was born in 1949, in Phoenix, Arizona, the youngest son of Bob and Doris Walters. He was raised in Phoenix and later moved to Colorado, where he bought a pick-up truck, a horse, and a golden retriever. From there he spent time in Oregon, Arizona, Washington, and finally in Avila Beach, California, which he described as his most perfect place.
He was known by those who loved him as an avid learner and a collector of expertise. He collected knowledge from anywhere he could, including Arizona State University, Wharton School of Business, and his favorite, Google. He was thrilled by new people, new experiences, and new information. He was raised hunting and fishing, and passed that love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. As a teenanger he played guitar for The Catalinas in Phoenix. As an adult he could be counted on to play "Johnny B Good" every time someone would let him on a stage. There is no way to list all of his successes and accomplishments, but he was most proud of his family, his work in the youth baseball community in Durango, Colorado and later in Corbett, Oregon, and his business ventures around the world. He also served on various boards and committees including the La Plata Airport Commission, the La Plata County Budget committee, the La Plata Humane Society, and Corbett High School sports department. He was a loyal friend, a devoted husband, an unabashedly proud father, and an adored "Coach."
He is survived by his children, Corey (Condi), David (Katherine), and Lindsay, his step-children Aaron (Kara) and Adam, his grandchildren--Eli, Dylan, Sydney, Averson, and Ayla--and his loving wife Jody, and their beloved and loyal companion, Riley.

I only knew Ray from the video projects that we made to promote the wonderful Villaggio Retirement Community. In that short time, Ray impressed me as a smart, energetic, caring and a great human being. He will be missed. My sincere condolences to Jody and the rest of Ray's family.

I never had the good fortune of meeting Ray, but I know that if my cousin Jody loved him and married him, then he must of been a wonderful person. May he rest in peace and with time I hope Jody can find peace and contentment in her life.
