Jean Elaine (Wall) Byrd, 89, went to be with the Lord January 13, 2019. She was born in Hoisington, Kansas on August 22, 1929 to Ben and Iola Wall. Jean loved spending time with her family and many friends. She was a member of the Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church and a woman of great faith. With her son Chris, she had been memorizing the books of the Bible and had memorized up to Amos before she passed away. An avid reader and traveler, Jean had a lifelong interest in politics and education. Mother was a calming force in our family life and brought sharp wit, a soothing voice, and much love. Mom always had her opinion and even though it may not have been the same as the person's asking, she would honestly answer any questions and offer sound advice. Mother will be greatly missed and thought about every day. A sight, a smell, a sound, will trigger memories of her for the rest of our lives.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; Clarence Richard Byrd. She is survived by three children; Richard C Byrd of Benton, David W Byrd (Suzanne) of Benton, and Marian L Byrd Oesterle (Bill) of St. Louis, Missouri, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held 10 am, Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, 4823 Woodlawn Drive, Little Rock. Her cremated remains will rest at Urich Cemetery, Urich Missouri.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Charles Smith, Dr. David Rozas, Dr. James Landers, Baptist Health, Brookdale Pleasant Hills Senior Living, Assisted Living Director Chiquita Sigears and staff, Executive Director Tina Bone, and Home Hospice Care and staff. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Pulaski Heights United Methodists Church.
