Dennis Cunningham, 67, a longtime resident of Hesperus, Colorado passed away November 16, 2018 at the home of his father-in-law, Jerry Bohannan, in Albuquerque, N.M. following complications from a heart attack September 17, 2018 in Durango, CO. Dennis was born November 27, 1950 in Kansas City, KS to Darvin Eugene Cunningham and Carol Wheeler Cunningham. He graduated from Gardner High School in Gardner, KS in June of 1968. Shortly after graduation he was drafted into the US Army to serve in the Vietnam War. He served as a Communications Specialist from 1968 to 1971 when he was honorably discharged. He moved from Kansas City to Albuquerque in 1972 and went to work for Bohannan/Huston Engineering where he met his wife, Sandi. They were married in Albuquerque on November 24, 1972. With Dennis' experience in communications, he went to work for Applied Communications Technology from 1976-1981 as a telecommunications engineer. In 1981, he and Sandi purchased a tract of land south of Hesperus and settled in Colorado. At the time of his death, Dennis was employed by Preliminary to Final, Inc. as a contract field inspector. Dennis had many hobbies besides hunting, fishing, snowshoeing; he enjoyed restoring old trucks, loved to cook, and had an insatiable appetite for knowledge. He always had a book or manual in hand. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Darvin; mother, Carol; and his oldest brother, John. He is survived by his wife, Sandi; his brother, Gary (Linda), of Tucson, AZ; sister, Carol (Danny) Wise, of Tucson, AZ; sister-in-law, Ora Cunningham, of Hesperus, CO; brother-in-law, Ron (Donna) Bohannan, Albuquerque, NM; nieces, Kelly, Keli, Casey, Lauren; nephews, Derek, Brandon and Garrett; and his beloved dog, Tillie Mae. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. The death of a loved one is such a difficult time for the entire family. I hope you can find comfort in God's Word the Bible. I am confident that the Bible will provide some solace and relief during this time of sorrow. My sincere condolences
