Louis Jay Kolz passed away quietly in his sleep April 10, 2018 from a heart attack. Louie was born August 23, 1961 to Joseph E. and Mamie Kolz, both of whom have preceded him in death. Siblings Fred, Bill and Debbie have also preceded him in death.
He is survived by wife Deniese, children James, Danny, Kylie, and Teresa and grandson Jameson, siblings Ronnie, Vicky, Jim, Wanda, Barbara, and Danny. He has left behind numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Louie was born and raised in La Plata County, and was well-known in draft horse circles as a teamster/driver. He worked for different construction companies in the oil and gas industry, and was well-known for his skill in moving drilling rigs. In recent years, he had been an OTR truck driver working out of Missouri.
Many people will miss his quick grin with its mustache cover, his cheeky wit and sense of humor, and the sparkle of his blue eyes under the shade of a cowboy hat.
Louis is being cremated and his family will bring his ashes back to this area to be scattered. There are no plans for a memorial at this time.

My heart goes out to the Kolz family. Louis, much like his father, was such a character! I have so many wonderful memories of this family. Louis was my first ever driver for an equipment move when I worked pilot car. You will be greatly missed, old friend. Blessings to the family.
